2022 JLTASA Hiragana Mnemonic Competition

Prizes will be awarded for the top five entries. Entrants are encouraged to think outside the box, and/or select characters which are less common (including ten-ten and maru characters).

All entries of high quality will be included in the download pack for teachers, attributed to student by first name and school.

Judging Criteria:

  • Creativity
  • Originality
  • Universality
  • Quality of drawing

Terms and Conditions

  • Mnemonic can be hand-drawn or computer-aided design
  • Where computer-aided design is used, any images used must be licence-free or creative commons
  • Where there is doubt to an item’s authenticity and originality, it will not be able to accepted for entry
  • Upon submitting a design, students/sites relinquish their rights to the image to JLTASA; the resource/s produced by JLTASA using their designs will remain free for the South Australian Japanese teacher community to access and published on the JLTASA website
