2024 Year 5-6 State Hiragana Contest (CANCELLED)
Wed October 30 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
*CANCELLED*
**Updated Entry Criteria and Eligibility following Hub Group vote end of Term 1 2024, are viewable below**
All JLTASA student events are designed to maximise student participation across the state.
The State Hiragana Competition exists to celebrate primary students’ Hiragana learning efforts over the course of their primary years.
After some proposed changes in 2023, further consultation was sought, and each of the four hubs made their final vote on eligibility for heritage/background speakers, and repeat entrants, at the end of Term 1 2024. The final decision (for the state final) is viewable below:
- Teams may have a maximum of one heritage/background speaker. Teams who enter with a heritage/background speaker shall have a handicap of -5 points applied.
- Teams may have a maximum of one repeat entrant (eg, a student who has participated in a state final previously). Consideration will of course be given to smaller, regional schools who may have smaller numbers of interested students. Teams entering a repeat entrant shall have a handicap of -5 points applied.
Entry Method
- Winning teams are encouraged to check the competition date (Tues 31st October) with their site prior to entering
- Teams who place 1st to 3rd in their Hub’s regional competition enter directly via Humanitix
- The 4th place team from each region should also enter as a backup entrant via Humanitix, in case any of the 1st-3rd place are unable to attend the date
Practice Quiz / How does the event work?
