Putting Differentiation into Practice in the Japanese Classroom

Differentiation is the ‘holy grail’ of teaching. This seminar tackles the issue head on. Participants will be introduced to a model for differentiated practice that they can use in their teaching contexts along with practical examples. This is an interactive, hands-on seminar in which participants will experience a range of worthwhile learning activities and teaching activities that demonstrate how to cater for the needs of all learners. The seminar will conclude with the exploration of a Japanese unit of work designed with a specific focus on differentiation.
Dr Truckenbrodt is an experienced language teacher who has taught from Kindergarten to University. As Director of Bayside Teaching and Learning Consultancy, she works consulting with teachers and schools, helping them to improve their programs and the learning outcomes for students. Andrea is an experienced presenter whose current areas of interest include differentiation and CLIL as well as the integration of literacy, numeracy and thinking skills into Languages teaching. Andrea enjoys developing curricula and creating new teaching materials in all languages. She also lectures in Language and Literacy Education at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education.
